Opening of Center for Black Literature as Indianapolis Public Central Library Celebrates its 100th Anniversary

On Saturday, Oct. 7, the Indianapolis Public Central Library will celebrate its 100th anniversary, having opened in 1917. Festivities begin at 11 a.m., and all are welcome. Two weeks later — on Saturday, Oct. 21, at noon — is the grand opening of the Indianapolis Public Library Center for Black Literature and Culture (CBLC), which will feature a keynote by journalist and political commentator Roland Martin.

Daryl Davis, A Black Man Has Collected More Than 200 Klansmen Robes

Daryl Davis is a blues musician, but he also has what some might call an interesting hobby. For the past 30 years, Davis, a black man, has spent time befriending members of the Ku Klux Klan. He says once the friendship blossoms, the Klansmen realize that their hate may be misguided. Since Davis started talking with these members, he says 200 Klansmen have given up their robes.
