Why Cultivate Cultures of Call

In every generation, congregations have produced church pastors and leaders from men and women who grew up in their midst. Also, some congregations have unknowingly discouraged potential church leaders. In Cultures of Call: Exploring Vocational Habits and Practices in Congregations, the Forum for Theological Exploration (formerly the Fund for Theological Education) explores the ways four diverse, highly effective congregations engage members in vocational discernment by raising the possibility of a career in ordained pastoral leadership. Each congregation also reflects upon the blessings to the congregation that follow from closely attending to the cultivation of the call to ministry
