Study Reveals What We Believe About Morality

Can we measure morality? Duke University professor of sociology, Stephen Vaisey, led a team of 12 researchers in an exploration of morals in an effort to find common answers to questions like, What is morality? How do people differ in what they view as moral? What explains those differences? How do moral views relate to social and political expression?

The original data file for the survey is available on the website of The Association of Religion Data Archives, an archive of religion research and data from national and international studies.

For more information on the Measuring Morality Project, including information on survey question sources and the team that designed and conducted the survey, see the project web page on the website of the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University. Publications resulting from the Measuring Morality Project are linked and described on the Measuring Morality Publications page of the Kenan Institute website.
