Promoting Serious Interfaith Dialogue

In 2010, King Abdullah II and Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of Jordan proposed that the United Nations create a World Interfaith Harmony Week to take place the first week of February. The proposal was adopted. Anju Bhargava, founder of Hindu American Seva Charities, discussed her conviction that interfaith harmony requires recognizing boundaries, respecting differences and seeking ways to support one another across faith lines in "An Interfaith Journey," a 3-minute news video from Odyssey Networks, a consortium of faith communities that promotes interfaith understanding through digital media. In "Serious and Difficult Interfaith Dialogue," the Rev. Gabriel Salguero, president of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition, explored the significance of World Interfaith Harmony Week. In "The Interfatih Template For Action," Salguero discussed the interfaith cooperation he experienced around the issue of illegal immigration. The Episcopal bishop of Washington, D.C., John Chane, shared his thoughts on the importance of interfaith connections in "Interfaith Connections."
