Introduction to the Christian Year

Several documents from the 4th and 5th centuries indicate that the church developed the Christian Year as a way to keep time that celebrates the key moments in the gospel message. This transcript of an address provides a brief introduction to the history, variety, and key elements of the Christian year. The address was given by John Witvliet, director of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and professor of music and worship at Calvin College and Calvin Seminary.
