Help for new pastors entering ministry

The Lilly Endowment supported a multi-denominational program to bring clergy, churches, schools and students into a coordinated mentoring program to help new clergy transition into full-time ministry.

In the article, "Transition into Ministry and the Cultivation of Pastoral Excellence" on the website of Faith & Leadership, pastor David J. Wood, reflects on his first two weeks of a new ministry, asking "How does anyone learn to do all this?" and "How does anyone cultivate the competency sufficient to the complexity of pastoral life?"

The Pastoral Excellence Network at Christian Theological Seminary offers a Transitions Into Ministry (TiM) program to assist new pastors in making the critical transition from seminary student to pastoral leader.

The website of Resources for American Christianity also offers some guidance for new pastors entering ministry.
