Getting the Young and Disconnected back to church

Recent research makes it clear that a growing percentage of young adults are not connected with any religious tradition or faith community even though America's young have a strong interest in spirituality. Researchers have wondered why those young adults do not participate in religious communities, and how some faith communities are doing a stellar job of attracting and engaging young adults. To help faith communities understand the patterns of young adult participation and the practices of faith communities that have a significant percentage of young adult participants, Faith Communities Today, a research consortium of over 26 faith communities, researchers, and scholars, has compiled a page of links to research findings, as well as a set of case studies from diverse faith communities that can help congregational leaders understand best practices and principles for success with this age cohort. For more perspective on working with youth and young adults, see our articles, "Reversing the Exodus: 7 Traits of Churches that Successfully Attract Young Adults,"  and "Best Resources on Youth and Youth Programming for Congregations."
