To Be Gay and Called to Serve God

The Pittsburgh Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has consistently voted against the ordination of gay clergy. East Liberty and Eastminster Presbyterian churches sit just a couple blocks apart, but stand on opposite sides of the debate. After the decision of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to ordain gay clergy, the clergy of East Liberty and Eastminster explained their positions and talked about how they continue to work together for the benefit of the Pittsburgh community in a 6-minute video housed on the website of Odyssey Networks, an interfaith consortium that uses digital media to promote spirituality in culture and understanding across faith lines. In a related 5-minute video, the same clergy discuss the political struggle over gay ordination within the Presbyterian Church and its implications for the church. Finally, in a separate 4-minute video, an Evangelical Lutheran pastor who is gay describes her journey to ordination.  [Editor Note: Unfortunately, Odyssey Networks no longer has these videos online.
