The Pentecostal Movement

Pentecostals expect Christ to establish the 1,000-year reign described in Revelation 20:1-7. They believe Christians will be removed from the earth before the period of tribulation that will precede Christ’s reign, and they believe Holy Spirit-induced glossalalia (speaking in tongues) is a prophetic sign that we are in the very last days. Such views have moved beyond Pentecostal circles and into other Christian denominations, expanding the reach of Pentecostal theology. To learn more about the Pentecostal movement and its growing impact on Christianity, read Margaret Poloma's analysis offered by the Hartford Institute for Religion Research.
