The values and messages in the film "Life of Pi"

A movie about a boy who survives a shipwreck in a lifeboat, alone except for a man-eating tiger, asks viewers to accept an openness to faith without preaching or proselytizing. The movie, based on the book of the same name, is being used in college-level comparative religion courses to engage young adults with a story of faith and faithfulness that calls for making faith commitments. Director Ang Lee and screenwriter David Magee discuss Life of Pi’s values and message in a 6-minute news video prepared by correspondent Deborah Potter for Religion and Ethics NewsWeekly, a source for cutting-edge news coverage and analysis of events in the religious world.
