Faith & Leadership Wins Church Press Awards

Faith & Leadership has won seven awards in the Associated Church Press’ 2013 "Best of the Christian Press" contest.

The awards were announced recently at the annual ACP convention in Chicago. The ACP, founded in 1916, is the oldest interdenominational religious press association in North America and its membership comprises newspapers, newsletters, magazines, journals, news services, e-zines and websites.

In the organization’s Best of Class awards, Faith & Leadership’s Call & Response blog received an honorable mention for best online blog.

In the general awards, in the category of reporting and writing, Faith & Leadership received two awards of excellence (first place). A six-part series on behavioral theology by Ken Evers-Hood received an award of excellence for best theme issue, section or series. The News & Ideas feature received an award of excellence for online media.

In the video category, the magazine won an award of merit (second place) for “Claire Wimbush: Broken people walking toward wholeness” by Kate Rugani and Ed Moore, producers; Steve Mims, filmmaker.

The magazine also received an award of merit in the professional resource category for several “resource pages” the website created last year, compiling links to previously published articles on subjects such as Christian leadershipChristian social entrepreneurship, and Advent and Christmas.

The magazine received two honorable mentions for theological reflections. The series by Evers-Hood received an honorable mention in the "theological reflection, long format" category.  “Why Easter needs Christmas” by C. Kavin Rowe received an honorable mention in the "theological reflection, short format" category.
