First Sunday of Advent & World AIDS Day

Dates & Time:
Sun, Dec 2, 2018 - 09:00 am
Sun, Dec 1, 2019 - 09:00 am

On this day, we celebrate the first Sunday of Advent and continue to fight against HIV/AIDS. On this day we remember those who have died from AIDS. The theme for World AIDS Day 2013 was "Getting to Zero." Our prayer remains that a cure for this disease will be discovered, and that our great God will heal our brothers and sisters around the world who are living with HIV and AIDS.

The musical selections listed in this unit were selected to provide comfort and encouragement as we reflect, worship, and pray together. May we share and show unconditional love to those living daily with HIV/AIDS.

Ways to Support World AIDS Day

Provide red ribbons for everyone in attendance at your worship service.

After the service, create a designated space for community partners to provide information, confidential testing, and counseling.

Invite someone who is infected with or affected by AIDS to share their story during Sunday school and/or the worship service.

Pray for and give financial support to ministries and organizations that serve people with HIV/AIDS.
