Developing an African American Lectionary

The African American Lectionary project, funded by the Lilly Endowment, is an online lectionary offering commentaries, cultural tools, and worship resources for the Black Church in America. In this interview, director Martha Simmons reflects on her impetus, development process, and goals for the project; she describes how the African American Church Year differs from the Euro-American Church Year; and she reports on what she has gleaned about early trends in the lectionary’s use and value.
