Joseph Phelps, of Highland Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, was neither burned out nor questioning his calling. Instead, he was excited about his church’s future plans. But he sought through his sabbatical of travel, made possible in part by the Lilly Clergy Renewal Grant, to search for an integration of "message and medium, community and context, and spirit and space." This journey allowed him in the end to discover with new eyes his home congregation.
