The Alban Institute

The Alban Institute was founded in 1974 as a major resource for American congregations facing the challenges of a changing society. While today's challenges are even more pressing than they were three decades ago, the opportunities have never been clearer for congregations to be vital communities of faith, health, and leadership. Alban stands at the forefront of knowledge and experience regarding congregational vitality and positive trends across denominations and faith traditions. Our work is helping shape the strong congregations and congregational leaders of tomorrow.

Each year, Alban touches hundreds of thousands of lives around the world through our publishing, education, consulting, research, membership, online activities, and projects. We gather many perspectives, we respect ideas, and we learn from one another. As a result, our influence reaches deeply into the congregations of this country and the world.

Our work is supported by contributions and sales of programs, services, and publications. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the Alban Institute relies on generous contributions from individuals and foundations to realize our mission.

There are many Web resources written by or featuring Alban authors and consultants. Below is a list of blogs, websites, and podcasts that provide information about our authors' and consultants' books and events, as well as some of their musings about what it's like to be a faithful leader in the world today.

We hope to engage you in an ongoing conversation about the challenges and opportunities facing congregational leaders. Here you'll find food for thought, advice, and encouragement. You can search for articles by topic, author, and the publication or website they came from. Send us a comment. Our goal is keep this dialogue space constantly refreshed, while maintaining an extensive archive of resources, some of which is available exclusively to Alban members.
